Hi! I'm Alicia. As a neurodivergent minority and member of many marginalized communities, I am prepared to understand and meet the needs of the communities I seek to serve. I have had the privilege of access to, and success in, academia as well as decades of training and experience as a mental health provider. I have overcome hurdles and barriers in my personal, professional, and academic life and I feel compelled to help others do the same. I strive to create a neurodiversity affirming environment.
I have experience with all ages but focus my service on adults (21+). I have worked with hundreds of clients and families focusing on autism, ADHD, alexithymia, depression, trauma, career counseling, marriage/couples therapy, peer support, case management, sex therapy, family therapy, life skills, anxiety, psychoeducation, mentoring, and more.
My academic career includes degrees in Psychology, Professional Counseling, Cell and Molecular Biology, Chemistry, and Biomedical and Biological Research with a Neuroscience specialty.
My passion has always been helping others. With every step of my education my goal was to use my training and personal struggles to assist others in finding the firm foundation they need to build their life on. I learned to see these challenges as learning opportunities and focus on accommodating myself in a way that led me to achieving my goals. I did not do this alone. I sought help from my peers, professionals, books, classes, podcasts, support groups, and strangers. I have absorbed and applied extensive information to harness my individual strengths and the strengths of my clients. I am on a constant journey of learning, understanding, and self-acceptance and want to bring you along with me.
*What I do is not therapy* I use my education, training, and lived experiences as an ND person, to collaborate with you to build awareness and resourcefulness regarding day-to-day stressors. This will empower you to create the life you want. I understand having a different neurotype affects even the smallest aspects of life. Not only do we experience the world differently, but it requires access to energy and awareness we might not have, to find success. Let’s work together to find yours.
Mission Statement: Create a place of compassion, respect, and honesty while providing neurodiverse-informed and affirming care for our community. I will strive to show up as my best and authentic self for my clients who are investing in their current and future success.
